PAUL TIPLER

Paul’s career behind the desk really began with promotion from studio teaboy to being in-house engineer at The Chocolate Factory working with many great acts including Squeeze and Julian Cope…

From there here moved to Greenhouse Studios to work alongside producer Pat Collier at and Eric Radcliffe at Blackwing Studios getting fully involved in the sounds growing and emerging from the thriving London music scene…

The natural progression to producing records himself meant Paul worked with acts such as Leatherface, Kingmaker, Midway Still and Pop Will Eat Itself in 1990 through Elastica, Dr Feelgood, Placebo, House of Love and many more.

The next two decades many artists benefit from the working with Paul including Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Stereolab , Mojave 3, Client, The Wonderstuff, Perfume, Forward Russia and many world fusion artists such as Transglobal Underground, Jah Wobble, Fun-Da-Mental and Talvin Singh along with developing artists such as Little Mothers, Reuben, Dogs Die In Hot Cars and Earl Brutus all benefit from his now honed production techniques.

From Tape Machine to Hard Drive…after years working with tape, Paul embraced technology and moved into the digital age.   Without forgetting his past he has equipped his studio with the best of both analogue and digital equipment.

Now he works out of his own ‘Unit 13 Studios’ in the ‘Press Play Complex’ owned by Andy Ramsay from old friens Stereolab…
