During the early 2000s The Libertines burned briefly but brightly blazing a trail through a stagnant UK indie music scene. Literate and rebellious, The Libertines built a devoted following through legendary and incendiary live shows and the release of two critically acclaimed albums. Now recognised as one of the most exciting and important bands of their generation they continue to influence and inspire many of today’s bands.
The affection in which they are held was apparent in the reaction to their headline gig at the Barclaycard British Summertime, Hyde Park in July 2014. Such was the demand for tickets they quickly added three more headline dates at Alexandra Palace which promptly sold out.
The Libertines then embarked on their first European tour for ten years, played a secret set at Glastonbury and sold out the headline slot at Reading and Leeds. They are now (2016) writing and rehearsing their eagerly awaited new material.
